New 600-Store Retail Chain
One of the world’s largest retailers had tried three times to launch a small store format and failed. Its board of directors and investors were demanding more growth. In eight weeks, a team led by a Rivia partner selected one idea from about a dozen contenders for a new store format, created a physical mock-up, and designed a supporting business model for what eventually became a 600-store retail division. Many of the stores have sales per square meter among the highest in the world.
